Leaving British Airways in 2006 as General Manager Aircraft Acquisition, Dave had negotiated all of the Group's aircraft purchase agreements since 1990, including; B747, B757, B767, B777-200, A318, A319, A320 and A321 aircraft for BA, SAAB 2000s and B737s leased for DBA and RJ100s leased for BA CityFlyer. He also managed procurement teams covering the purchase, maintenance and product support of; aircraft, engines, interiors, IFE, landing gears, mechanical systems, ground equipment and flight and ground simulators.

Dave also sold various Airbus aircraft on behalf of BA negotiating the deals from proposal to final sales agreements. Since leaving British Airways Dave has helped them produce RFPs and draft contracts for B787, B777-300 and A380. In addition to working on other aircraft related projects he ran Hawaiian Airline's fleet replacement and expansion competitions, the first one culminating in purchase contracts for the A330 and A350 powered by Rolls-Royce engines, lease agreements for the A330 and TotalCare agreements covering the A330 and A350 engines. More recently, Dave ran a competition on Hawaiian's behalf between Boeing's B737 MAX and Airbus A320 Family Neo aircraft, culminating in a purchase contract for the A321Neo powered by Pratt and Whitney engines and a lifetime maintenance agreement with Pratt and Whitney covering the A321Neo engines.

Aviation Contract Solutions 2012 Ltd.

Aviation Contract Solutions 2012 Ltd, previously Aviation Contract Solutions Ltd, can provide extensive strategic procurement expertise to ensure the best overall proposition and lifetime cost for your company in the acquisition and maintenance of aircraft and aircraft engines. In addition we partner with other aviation consultancies to offer a full range of services which include airline and airport safety and security, and other services required when setting up airline and airport infrastructure.

We offer the following aircraft acquisition proposition:

Pre Market
Before taking your requirement to the market, we will work with you to determine the most appropriate strategy, designed to ensure that a carefully tailored request for proposal (RFP) can be issued, by providing strategic guidance to include timing, operational support strategy and the most appropriate long-term contract strategy.

Acquisition and Service Proposition
We will work with you to understand the requirements of your company's business related to aircraft, airframes, engines, major components and other items that make up the majority of the cost and complexity of buying and operating an aircraft fleet. As part of our analysis we would seek to clearly define and identify where the areas of risk and responsibility transfer between your company and the supplier. This process is also designed to support your company's business plans for personnel, skills, infrastructure and operation.

Negotiation Phase
We can give you advice or, (as we have experienced to be greatly more to your benefit) manage all the elements of the negotiation phase from strategic planning to contract award.

Negotiation Strategy Planning
Developing and building on the Pre-Market work, and utilizing your own market intelligence, we can assist in formulating a robust negotiation strategy taking into account; timing, requirements, cost drivers, corporate expectations and roles and responsibilities.

Negotiation Planning
We can help you analyse the bid responses received, the differences and major issues, the key cost drivers and any areas where the bids fall short of your previously identified expectations, including: product, cost and operational support perspectives.

Negotiation Implementation
We ensure that where we take the lead in negotiations there are clear reporting lines to the responsible executive within your company in order that the Negotiation Strategy and objectives are maintained and that key expectations are understood and achieved. We would adapt and implement our well defined strategic and procedural techniques to your needs, to achieve success.

Contract Development and Negotiation
An integral part of this phase is negotiating, in your favor, the best possible contractual terms. We can structure all types of agreements dependent on you requirements.

Contract Proposition
In addition to purchase and lease agreements we can develop, with your company, the most appropriate type of maintenance contracts to meet your requirements, ranging from basic 'Time and Material' agreements to complete service agreements providing for asset availability. We have extensive experience of negotiating flying hour maintenance support and availability deals. This type of deal is often very attractive in principle but notoriously difficult to get right without the relevant experience on your side.

Disposal
The final disposition of aircraft, engines, major components and other items requires careful consideration, even at the outset of its acquisition strategy, being part of the 'total life management' of the aircraft, engine or fleet, especially when negotiating aircraft lease agreements.

Disposal activity can occur during varying phases of an assets life, from end of lease or sale opportunities to exit in the form of scrap. We can achieve a smooth and financially effective exit of the fleet or individual aircraft or engines and components. We will, where appropriate, integrate this activity with the arrival of a new fleet and help you overcome some of the obstacles, almost always encountered, when returning lease aircraft to the lessors. As part of our analysis we would seek to clearly define and identify where the areas of risk and responsibility transfer between your company and the supplier.
